Humanistic psychology emphasizes looking at the whole individual. It focuses on concepts like free will, self-efficacy, and self-actualization. Humanistic psychology tries to help others self-actualize and achieve their goals. The father of humanism, Abraham Maslow, believed that the best way to attain self-actualization starts with having a safe, loving childhood. Humanism applies to me through my family. My family raised me to be the best I could. Because of them, I can attain self-actualization.
